Dear Community Member,
The Sharks Swim Team competes in the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference (DSDC), an organization of 13 park districts within DuPage County, Illinois. Our team is composed of over 50 swimmers, ranging in age from 5 through 18. While we do compete, the summer swim season is more about building sportsmanship, courage, friendship and a sense of community in our kids, as well as teaching and developing a skill they will continue to use their whole lives. Above all, however, the summer swim season is about having fun. The Sharks were founded in 2019 as a merger of the Wood Dale Water Rats and Addison Frogs, each of which originated in the 1970’s. This year, in fact, marks the 50th Anniversary of the Wood Dale swim team and the DSDC itself.
The Wood Dale – Addison Swim Team Parent Club, a non-profit organization, would like to invite you in celebrating our anniversary, and in helping assure that there will be more swim seasons to celebrate for years to come. The financial cost of running a successful summer swim season is substantial. Our parent club is responsible for providing equipment, uniforms, awards, activities, and of course, pizza and donuts for all our swimmers. Covering that cost is simply not possible for us without the generosity of our sponsors and donors. It is our hope that you will find it possible to join us in that end.
Below is more detailed information on supporting the Sharks, including benefits that our team can provide in return. It is our sincere desire to develop a mutually beneficial relationship; and it is our belief that we offer more unique benefits than those typically found in other youth sports. Our meets can involve as many as 200 swimmers, and require over 50 parents to run. Our team is its own community within 2 communities, and your involvement will be very visible.
If you have any questions, or are interested in discussing an alternative arrangement, please contact me at [email protected]. We would certainly welcome donations in the form of gift certificates/gift cards, merchandise, equipment, or services in lieu of cash, or any combination thereof. Many of our swimmers have endured despite losing our Addison pool, most have endured the threat of losing their swim team before our merger, and all have endured lost summers due to the pandemic. They will greatly appreciate your generosity in whatever manner you or your organization finds possible, as they embrace another season under the sun.
Thank you for your consideration
John Regan – President
