Who We Are
Wood Dale - Addison Sharks Swim Team
The Wood Dale - Addison Sharks is a summer swim team open to anyone between the ages of 5 and 18, regardless of skill or experience level. The Sharks are members of the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference (DSDC), The DSDC is an organization of 12 individual swim teams from villages and townships throughout DuPage County.
The Sharks were founded in 2019, as a merger of the former Wood Dale Water Rats and Addison Frogs swim teams. The Addison Frogs were founded in 1976, and the Wood Dale Water Rats first season was 1973. Last year marked the 50th Anniversary of both the Wood Dale Swim Team and the DSDC itself.
Our team's home meets and practices are held at the Wood Dale Park District Pool, also known as "The Beach". The Sharks currently have one head coach and two assistant coaches. All team coaches are hired and employed by the park district.
While the Sharks are a part of the Wood Dale Park District (WDPD), and thus, benefit from its staff and facilities, the summer swim season is largely funded and operated by the Wood Dale - Addison Sharks Swim Team Parent Club. All Sharks families are considered members of the Parent Club, and their financial and volunteer support is mandatory. A swim season cannot exist without it. The Parent Club is directed by its Executive Board and Committee Chairpersons, the offices of which any and all Parent Club members are eligible and encouraged to join.
