Mock Meet - Pizza Party
Wood Dale Pool
Start: 5:30 PM
End: 8:00 PM
(estimated)
Mock Meet is a chance for new parents and swimmers to learn what a swim meet is like, and to meet Sharks teammates and families. Coaches will hold "warm ups" (which is similar to practice) from 5:30 to 6:00pm. Mock Meet will begin at approximately 6:00pm, so parents should be present on the pool deck by this time. A demonstration of how swim meets operate will be given, including a description of each of the various jobs/roles performed by volunteers, as well as the location of where they are performed by the pool. We will then simulate some racing events like those that would occur in an actual meet. If technical conditions allow, our "Dolphin" timing system may be set up for the simulations. At approximately 7:00pm, all swimmers should be out of the pool, and we will have a pizza party in the picnic bench area directly west of the concession stand. All Sharks families are encouraged to participate. Pizza, pop, and water will be provided compliments of the Parent Club; but you may bring your own food & drinks in coolers. Portable chairs are also allowed. Alcohol is prohibited on park district grounds. The pizza party will end at 8:00pm. Make sure to bring extra towels and clothing for your swimmers to wear at the pizza party. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have during the party, or to voice any concerns. John Regan - Parent Club President |

Wood Dale Memorial Day Parade
Addison and Irving Park Roads (see "Calendar" for more info)
Start: 10:00 AM
End: 1:00 PM
(estimated)
There will be Sharks at this year's Wood Dale Memorial Day Parade! Help us celebrate the Wood Dale Swim Team's 50th Anniversary! We will be marching as a team, but also in coordination with, and as a part of, the Wood Dale Park District. All Sharks and their families are encouraged to participate. Promoting team awareness in the community helps to ensure our team continues for another 50 years! Wear Sharks spirit wear if you have it! Our group number is 21. We will be after the park district baseball team and before the Army. Unfortunately, I was just informed that our custom silk parade banner will not arrive in time, but we are being overnighted a complimentary vinyl banner to use for this event. This is the first time the Sharks have participated in this event, so the experience will be as new for all us, as it will be for all of you who may choose to join us. All we know for now is the following information we received from the parade organizers: Below are some helpful details for the staging of the parade, including day-of parking information: During the road closures, no vehicles will be allowed to cross the roadway except for police or medical emergencies. We’re excited to host this year’s Memorial Day Parade. Please note that the parade and Public safety are important to Wood Dale. While at the parade this year, you may notice an increase in Police presence. If you see something unusual or out of place, never hesitate to report this to the Police or parade staff and volunteers. We consider you our extra eyes. Please follow the City’s social media pages and website for possible schedule changes or weather-related updates. |
